GOKHALE EDUCATION SOCIETY
A lead and Quality Educational Institution in India
Gokhale Education Society, founded in 1918, by late Prin.T.A. Kulkarni,
is one of the oldest and pioneering educational institutions. The Society
is established with the main objectives of developing quality citizens
through education and training and to raise the dignity of teaching
profession. The Society has all along emphasized the holistic approach
and total personality development of pupils, through educational programmes
undertaken on the basis of service and providing dynamic leadership.
The Nashik Campus has provided new dimensions to higher education, as
the Society started H.P.T. Arts College in the year 1924 followed by
the science stream in 1948. B.Y.K. College of Commerce was established
in the year 1957, JDC Bytco IMSR in 1968, NBT Law College in 1969 and
SMRK-AK-BK Mahila Mahavidyalaya in 1985.
The Society took the lead in introducing the UGC scales to college teachers and attracted UGC hostel grants as early as in 1960 and other grants for extension of building, library and reading room facilities, ladies hostel project, M.Phil./ Ph.D. fellowships, teachers exchange programmes, minor and major research projects.

B.Y.K. COLLEGE OF COMMERCE
B.Y.K. College of commerce, established in the year 1957, is a well-known commerce college in India. It is affiliated to the University of Pune, Maharashtra. The College is NAAC accredited with Grade A. The College is also ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Certified College. The college is celebrating its golden jubilee this year.
The Mission of the college is "Achieving Excellence Through Innovative Educational Programmes.
COLLEGE PROFILE
The College was started at Nashik by the Gokhale Education Society in the year 1957. B.Y.K. College of Commerce started working from 20th June 1957. It admits students to the Three Year B.Com degree course and it is a post graduate recognized center in Commerce (M.Com), of the University of Pune. It is also an M.Phil Research Programme center recognized by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. It has also started BBA and BFT courses. The College provides facilities for teaching Advanced Cost Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Auditing, and Business Administration as special subjects at M.Com level. By offering facilities for higher education in Commerce and Management Science, the College has fulfilled the long-felt need for such education in North Maharashtra. The College has acquired reputation of its own in the field of higher education in Commerce and Management.
The college was granted permanent affiliation within six years by University
of Pune in June 1963.
This is the only single Faculty College in India under commerce stream
selected for the Restructured Programme at the undergraduate
level for 2500 students since June 1983.
This college is one of the 200 colleges selected at all India level by University Grants Commission (UGC) for Vocationalisation of First Degree Education from June 1994.
The college has provided new dimensions to higher education in commerce
through the emerging thrust areas like
(1) Computer Applications, (2) Entrepreneurship Development, (3) Banking
& Finance (4) Public Relations, (5) Insurance, (6) Integrated Rural
Development, (7) Industrial Organisation & Administration and (8)Applied Statistics.

FUTURE PLANS
- Autonomous E+ Programme in which Certificate Course in Information Technology, Diploma in Information Technology, Certificate Course in Communication Skills in English & Personality Development are to be started from the year 2007-2008.
- M.Phil Center for Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open Univertisty is being run from the year 2006-2007
- A staff Training Academy will also be a regular feature of the College.
- Training Programme for MPSC and UPSC students.
- Training Programme for SC students for appearing in Competative Examininations.
- "Earn while learn" and internship programmes are to be given due importance without affecting the academic studies.
